H&A Outfitters, Inc. offers New Mexico public land professionally guided elk hunts in the Cibola National Forest in Game Management Unit 13 and Game Management Unit 17. We offer guided archery elk hunts and guided muzzleloader elk hunts. These are primitive weapon units only. The Cibola National forest is a IUCN category VI, which is a protected area with sustainable use of natural resources. Hence, primitive weapons only.
These two units have some of the best draw odds in North America and are known for producing trophy class bull elk every year. There are some 370-400" class bulls inhabiting these units.
New Mexico offers a unique opportunity to hunt these quality units whether you are successful in drawing a state license or not. This is through the use of a private landowner permit. These are unit wide permits which enables you to hunt not only the private land but also the public land in the Game Management Unit the ranch is located in. This is a great advantage for the hunter to be able to utilize the entire unit. Private landowner permits are available for both archery and muzzleloader hunts in GMU 13 and GMU 17. Cost ranges from $3,000 to $5,000. This is not your actual license, this is a voucher to be able to purchase your elk license over the counter. H&A Outfitters, Inc. will purchase these for you at your request for a quality guided elk hunt. Call or email us for more details.
GMU 13 is what we call the high desert plateaus and is approximately 6,000 – 7,500 feet in elevation. The terrain is covered with juniper, pinon and ponderosa. This unit is very rough. The canyons are steep and rocky. Keep in mind GMU 13 does not have the number of elk as compared to other units in New Mexico. but it does have some of the largest bulls in the state roaming within its boundaries. So if you are looking for a true trophy hunt, this could be the unit for you to consider. Draw odds are excellent and the potential for a monster bull is a definite reality.
H&A Outfitters, Inc. has offered fully guided elk hunts in GMU 13 for over a decade. We are fully permitted to utilize the entire unit. We definitely have the experience to put you on a bull in this unit.
